The IMHS
Metaphysics Doctoral Degree program is comprised of a total 12
required courses covering a wide variety of metaphysical concepts and
life-skills. The five Bachelor’s Degree courses have been
predetermined for you. Some of the seven required courses in the
Master’s Degree Program have been pre-determined based on the area of
specialization you choose, but you will also be able to choose
electives. This section describes all of our courses. Please check the
individual degree specialization pages above for specific course
requirements.
Each course is comprised of several
segments and is designed to be completed in 15 - 30 hours, depending
on the course and student. Some segments include audio and/or video
supplements to the written material. Course work varies
depending on the course material but courses include study
material and other learning resources such as videos and audios.
Most courses include a
final exam or written assignment or both. All study material is included
in the tuition--there are no additional books to buy. A certificate of
completion is issued once each course is completed. A Bachelor's
Diploma is issued after the first five courses and the Bachelor's
course assignment are completed; a
Master's Diploma is issued after seven additional courses are completed, and a Doctoral
Diploma is issued once the Doctoral Degree Assignment is completed.
The
courses are designed to be taken
one per month, but students are free
to complete up to three courses per month if their schedule
permits full time study. The key is to digest the information
rather than speed through it.
Many of
the Degree Program courses below are available as
standalone
certificate courses at ICHS, our sister school.

Spiritual Counseling for Addiction-Based Relationships
This course is an absolute must for
any student who desires to counsel or coach others in
relationships where alcoholism or another addiction is causing
dysfunction in the family. This course will not teach students
how to counsel alcoholics or addicts; but it will give students
the extensive knowledge required to help the family and friends
of alcoholics and addicts (who are grossly under-represented by
most addiction programs). This intensive course focuses on
alcoholism because it is the most widespread addiction. But the
principles taught also apply to helping non-addicts in any other
addiction-based relationship. This course is a one-of-a-kind in
that it teaches students about the Empowered Recovery (ER)
program for nonalcoholics, which they can, in turn, use to help
their counseling and coaching clients. ER is a cutting-edge
approach to helping the family and friends of alcoholics
recognize, understand, and resolve an alcoholic relationship. It
has helped thousands of individuals since its development in
2001.

Douglas Kelley.

decades. This one-of-a-kind course was written and is taught by
Dr. Ingrid Irwin, one of the world’s leading experts in EVP
research. In addition to the history of EVP research, students
will learn important techniques and methods of recording, types
of equipment and software available, how to assess and review
recordings, and how to conduct controlled recording sessions
that minimize false-positives. Students will also learn
important aspects of the physical sciences such as the
characteristics of sound and noise, hearing perception, human
speech and articulation, and spectral view analysis. Learning
how these characteristics work together will not only allow
students to identify physical human speech patterns in
recordings, but will also allow them to differentiate and
evaluate anomalous speech findings. This course also includes a
valuable protocol by which students can review, evaluate,
assess, and classify all recordings. Once completed, students
will have a solid knowledge of the analysis and review of EVP
utterances while remaining scientifically grounded and
objective. Successful completion of this course also entitles
students to place the designation “CET” (Certified EVP
Technician) after their name.
